Key features

  1. Materials

    1. Bk

      Brown kraft liner

FSC certified, unbleached and uncoated liner paper made from virgin pulp. Brown kraft liner is the most sustainable material for printing on an insert. We recommend this liner paper if you choose to print on brown paper.
    2. Wc

      White coated liner

FSC certified, bleached liner paper made from recycled and virgin pulp. It’s then coated with kaolin clay to create a smooth surface for printing. White coated liner offers the best print performance. We recommend this liner paper if you choose to print on white paper.
    3. Bt

      Brown testliner

FSC certified paper made from 100% recycled fibres, brown testliner is a cost-effective paper used on most non-printed dividers. We recommend this liner paper for any non-printed side of your insert. This reduces its carbon footprint and cost.
    4. Wt

      White testliner

FSC certified and made from 100% recycled fibres, white testliner is a cost-effective paper used on white non-printed dividers. We recommend this liner paper for any non-printed side of your insert. This reduces its carbon footprint and cost.
    5. E

E-Flute (1.5-2.0mm) is used for all Sourceful custom inserts unless your product requires extra protection. It has great crush resistance for its weight, provides a flat surface for printing and is easy to fold.
    6. Vi

      Vegetable-based inks

Made with vegetable oils as their primary base, these inks are designed for high-quality offset printing. More sustainable than solvent-based inks.
    7. Ws

      Water-based sealant

Applied to every printed side of an insert. This is a standard part of the offset printing process to ensure colour consistency and avoid scuffing. Does not impact the recyclability of the box.
    8. Uv

      UV varnish

Used to highlight printed features or create a high gloss, professional finish over an entire print area. UV varnish also protects colours and reduces the risk of colours running when wet. Inserts with a UV varnish are widely recyclable.
  2. Production

    1. Op

      Offset printing

Offset printing is the standard process for high volume, high-quality printing. It's versatile, offers excellent vibrancy and detail, and is ideal for complex designs, bright colours, text and images.
    2. Fp

      Flexographic printing

      Ideal for bold, straightforward designs.
    3. 1c

      1 colour printing

1 colour printing is the most cost-effective option. Pantone colours ensure consistency for your branding.
    4. 2c

      2 colour printing

2 colour printing allow for bold, high contrast designs. Pantone colours ensure consistency for your branding.
    5. Fc

      Full colour printing

Full colour printing (CMYK) is ideal for vibrant, multi-coloured designs and images.
  3. Secondary packaging

    1. Cb

      Carton boxes

Below a certain size, custom inserts may be packed in cardboard carton boxes and stacked onto a pallet. This protects smaller products in transit and allows for more efficient packing, reducing costs and emissions.
    2. Kp

      Kraft paper

Custom inserts produced internationally (and above a certain size) are wrapped in kraft paper as bundles of 20 units. This reduces the risk of surface damage during transit and removes unnecessary plastic.
    3. P

The majority of custom inserts are shipped on standard, UK-sized (1.0x1.2m) pallets to ensure ease of delivery.
    4. Sw

      Shrink wrap and plastic straps

Any corrugated cardboard packaging stacked on pallets are secured with plastic straps to prevent movement during transit. They’re also shrink-wrapped to protect from dust and scratches. This secondary packaging has a negligible effect on a shipment’s carbon footprint and helps ensure products arrive in the best condition.
  4. Transport

    1. D

All domestic transit (UK) is handled by road. Products produced domestically are typically dispatched and delivered 24-48 hours after production is complete.
    2. I

All international transit (Asia) is handled by sea freight. Products produced internationally often have a higher carbon footprint impact than domestically produced products, although they’re normally more cost-effective. Products produced internationally are typically in transit for 6-10 weeks.
  5. End of life

    1. Rr

      Roadside recyclable

Sourceful custom inserts are widely recycled at the roadside, but end-users should always check with their local authority.

Supply chain assurance

A resilient, responsible supply chain

We validate all supplier claims and third-party certifications such as ISO, BRC and FSC. And we ensure suppliers adhere to UK and EU laws on chemicals and product components, like UK REACH. This allows businesses to confidently buy high-quality products that align with a net-zero trajectory.

All Sourceful inserts can be FSC Mix certified.

Vetted suppliers

We vet every supplier we work with. For RFQ products, we do this through site visits and rigorous product testing.

Quality control

Every lot from our suppliers undergoes a quality inspection process before it’s shipped. Any lot that fails quality inspection is returned to the manufacturer or reproduced.

For orders manufactured internationally (outside the UK), we follow the Acceptable Quality Limit (AQL) method defined by ISO 2859 - 1.

For orders manufactured domestically (inside the UK), our suppliers perform the quality inspection process which we then verify through spot checks throughout the year.
