Sourceful ISO/IEC 42001 certification badge and trust center, representing responsible AI management and compliance standards.

Today, Sourceful becomes one of the first creative-technology companies to earn ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification—the world's inaugural standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems (AIMS). We chose to work on this because trust is the foundation of any brand.

You can access our trust center for the latest updates and keep reading to learn more about the certification.

Why This Certificate Matters

ISO/IEC 42001 isn't just another certification for compliance reasons. It sets a global rulebook for building AI that is:

  • Transparent – every decision can be traced.
  • Accountable – every model has an owner and a rollback plan.
  • Human-first – creativity is amplified, never sidelined.

In short, it forces us to treat AI like any other mission-critical system: documented, tested, and continuously improved.

How We Got Here—By Design, Not Retrofit

Our ISO/IEC 42001 certification wasn't achieved through retrofitting existing processes—it was built into our DNA from the start. Here's how our approach aligns with the standard:

Design Phase: Risk & Ethics Review. Cross-functional "Red Team" vets every new model for bias, IP exposure, and manufacturability.

Training Phase: Data Governance & Consent. Datasets come only from partners who opted in; synthetic data is versioned and auditable.

Deployment Phase: Human Oversight & Rollback. Every AI output in Spring has both its generating prompt and its prior context for full traceability.

Sourceful: Context-Aware AI, Not Just Pretty Pictures

Unlike generic image generators, Sourceful is domain-first:

  • 10k+ real packaging briefs from global brands inform the model.
  • Human reviewers—actual structural packaging engineers and expert designers —score each release for real-world feasibility and creativity.

The result? AI that amplifies creativity without hallucinating impossible dielines or ignoring your brand guidelines. You can read our model results on Spring 3.5 here: https://www.sourceful.com/blog/spring-3-5-generative-ai-model-report

EU AI Act? We'll be ready

The EU AI Act rolls out in phases through 2026, but Sourceful is already aligned with many of its core principles. Our recent ISO/IEC 42001 certification provides a strong foundation across key areas:

  • Transparency — We document model behaviour, known limitations, and appropriate usage clearly for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Risk classification — Sourceful's platform operates within the "limited-risk" category (as defined by Annex III), and includes human review and safeguards to mitigate potential harm.
  • Governance & accountability — All AI systems have designated owners, review cycles, and oversight mechanisms to ensure responsible development and deployment.

While full EU AI Act compliance will require specific adaptations as final rules take effect, Sourceful is already well-positioned — both operationally and culturally — to meet those standards.
